The Reapers' Song
As I sit in darkness the sounds of raindrops tickle my ears
With the windows open the breeze freezes my tears
I have cried from so much pain, my life barely drags along
The air is cooling, I feel him coming, I hear the Reapers' song
I can escape his grasp or willingly give him my soul
Life or death, these are things which I can control
Within myself I have this choice
I sit listening trying to hear that inner voice
The one that makes sense of nonsense, the one that gives reason to rhyme
With each tear that drops I feel I am running out of time
Not knowing whether I should keep living or surrender and just give up
Are these delusions from the wine or the wrath of Gods' cup
The Reapers' song sounds so sweet yet some notes chill my bones
I hear more of his music when I am all alone
Darkness has become my light, in sadness I can only pray
Do I want the Reaper to continue to sing for me or go the other way
A song that entices because it may relieve me of my pain
My tears have been the drops falling in the rain
